Blog Suggestions
A blog I think folks should check out. It's by one of the most passionately involved people in the fight to preserve and keep safe sacred site, such as the mounds in Alabama.

the world is a changin' (working title)
the world is a-changin', the stories always come true, listen to the wind, they carry them along, like the song of a drum, beating, beating like a heart beat, that beats inside a child or dog, sniffing at a flower, that's pointing to the sun, beaming down at me, looking at the ground, watching little plants, coming through cracks in the pavement, that's crumbling day by day, which starts again new, new and improved is fake, like those teeth polished to white privilege, privilege is going, down down the dumps, which get blocked by others, who don't like what privilege does either, the world is a-changin', the people who slumbered forever wake again, coming to the world of change, that's getting colder, no wait, hotter, no wait colder, no hot..., another thing to think for yourself about, the things that come around go around, people going round round in circles, the circles of life, intertwined with each other, spiralling up and down and crazy sideways, but not really crazy, just very very cool, cool is the winter, like summer is not, my favourite is early summer, with hot it's not and back, back to front, the leaf shines like silver, true colours, not what giant holes dig deep for, but four leaf clovers found in a field, growing through the cracks in the pavement now long gone, the forests that once were are now back, the giant trees speak to me, even though i'm not here, but i live in one, with relations, the human kind, humans?

UPDATE/VIDEO: AKWESASNE WOMEN'S FIRE NEEDS HELP TO STOP GUNS
MNN. July 1, 2009. On Monday June 1st 2009 the Canadian Border Service Agency was to take up arms at the border crossing in the middle of Akwesasne of Mohawk Nation Territory. The people protested. At 11:30 pm on May 31st the CBSA guards abandoned their post and left. Since then, we have peacefully camped on the grounds next to the facility. This is the first video on the ongoing events in the camp and the people.

No band councilors showed up. They have been intimidated by the government, are afraid and caved in. It’s a powerful grassroots Peoples movement with no support from any government.
NEEDED: Funds would be greatly appreciated to keep up our tents: Please go to http://ping.fm/gqPk3 and donate online. For donations by check or money order please send to: Akwesasne Womens Fire, 936 Island Rd, Akwesasne ON K6H 5R7
Urgently needed are life jackets for the crossings and fuel for the boats. Your donations are appreciated of food, can goods, general supplies, non-perishable food, flashlights and batteries, lanterns, coal oil lamps, bug spray or zapper, regular toiletries – toilet paper, paper towels, soap, laundry, etc.
For further information please contact: Rosemarie White 613-933-8784; Veronica Cook; 915-886-0210; Neddy Thompson 613-577-4647; and Nona Benedict 613-551-5421 (c) 613-938-8145 (h) nonabena@yahoo.com
The caravan was greeted by an emotional welcoming ceremony and social. The people were overwhelmed by the sight of the caravan approaching over the International Bridge onto Kawenoke on Cornwall Island. We will keep it peaceful. The Customs Building is being maintained. Please send your messages of support to nonabena@yahoo.com
Please keep supporting us. The Chocktaw Nation of Oklahoma is coming to bring supplies and to meet the people.
Two Indigenous men hitchhiked from Vancouver. Jayson Fleury said that we are being eliminated by guns. We came to support our brothers and sisters to stop the genocide of our people. His sister ended up as one of Picton’s victims on the farm where dozens of our women were murdered. We will never accept outsiders carrying guns in their midst.
Old videos of gunfire 20 years ago are being used as part of the training of the CBSA that work on the island, completely ignoring the peace that has since prevailed. They probably watch old films where a cowboy shoots one bullet and knocks a whole tribe off their horses. The blue-eyed fat Indians with Brooklyn accents were played by Italians and others. Prejudice is being promoted by showing these kind of old movies to scare the CBSA.

Anniversary of Mohawk woman’s disappearance memorialized; media indifference, issues with police jurisdiction, and discriminatory taxi cab practices continues
Kahnawake, Mohawk Territory / - In an event initiated by family members to commemorate the disappearance of Tiffany Morrison, Quebec Native Women Inc., community members, the Sisters in Spirit Campaign, Amnesty International, Missing Justice and supporters, many from Montreal, will gather for a memorial walk and candlelight vigil on June 18 at Kahnawake’s K103 grounds. It marks the third anniversary of the disappearance of 24 year-old Mohawk woman, who went missing after she took a cab ride home with a man from the community.
For the Morrison family, the anniversary marks three years of agony, many questions and few answers, and frustration with media indifference, lack of cooperation with off-reserve police forces and jurisdictional issues, and discriminatory taxi cab practices for Kahnawake residents. As the family and police investigations reveal, cab drivers do not commonly log fares for rides that end up on the Kahnawake Mohawk reserve.
“These practices are overlooked by company owners and other drivers,” says Melanie Morrison, Tiffany’s older sister. “Why should our community be at risk? It leaves so many unanswered questions because we can’t get past the obstacle put up by the taxi company with their ‘no warrant, no evidence stance.’”
In less than a year, five Indigenous women have gone missing in Quebec alone. A study by the Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC) confirmed that 520 indigenous girls and women have gone missing or been murdered since 1980, but the number may be higher, as many cases go unreported, often due to distrust between First Nations communities and the police. If the non-native population in Canada were subject to proportional disappearances and deaths, the number would be 18,000.
Amnesty International's comprehensive 2004 report Stolen Sisters, put forth many recommendations to the Canadian government, which have so far been ignored. The UN recently gave the Canadian government an ultimatum: report back by the fall of 2010 on the status of more than 300 cases that “have neither been fully investigated nor attracted priority attention, with the perpetrators remaining unpunished."
Energetic and completely devoted to her daughter, Tiffany would never willingly disappear, her family says. “Someone knows something. Our hope depends on them coming forward.”
"Every day you listen for the phone to ring because there might be some news,” says Carol Morrison, Tiffany’s mother. “If somebody pulls in the driveway, you run to the door - always expecting to see her."

(Offer to Perform Compensatory Work, given at Montreal May 15 2009)
This letter is to inform you that I am a member of the sovereign Wabanaki Peoples and that you have no jurisdiction over me. Only my Creator, Creation, has any sort of jurisdiction; I have not committed any agregious, violent crime, unlike the current settler, foreign regime in place, which has committed crimes against humanity and acts of genocide against my peoples.
As for serving "Compensatory Work", I already do so every day in my community, with no compensation except love and respect in return.

Wow, I’ve barely started the second page, and seriously good reading. A lot of good info.
It’s an interview with a book author, about his book. It’s 3 years old, but I think still relevant to how the west countries behave.
